Interesting!  I didn't expect this book to be as amusing as it was.  The descriptions of the various characters in each 'scene' were quite funny, and I enjoyed the book quite a bit.

Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoevsky, Richard Pevear & Larissa Volokhonsky (Translators)

I enjoyed their Anna Karenina, so why not?

The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald

Yes, it's true - I've never read this book. Since I live less than a mile from F Scott Fitzgerald's resting place, it's time to fix that omission!

The Forever War - Joe Haldeman

I can't remember if I've read this before - parts were very familiar, other parts not familiar at all. Regardless, it was a worthwhile read and interesting from the perspective of soldiers, manipulated by their government, who lose all touch with the society they came from.
Can we say honestly we do a better job today of reintegrated our soldiers?

I saw this reviewed in the New York Times but admittedly it didn't really grab my interest. The title poem, 'Here, Bullet', isn't my favorite and the included except might have dampened my enthusiasm.
