The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

I first tried reading this book last year, and put it down. It really didn't do anything for me - in fact, it annoyed me with its constant, obtuse references and colloquial style. But based on reviews, awards, and word of mouth, I'm trying again and am finding it not as bad as I remembered. I still don't think it's all that, however.
