Mao's Last Dancer - Li Cunxin

Also recommended by my mom, and similar in some ways to other books I've read this summer, like Nothing to Envy. Very interesting and amazing life of a Chinese ballet dancer growing up under Mao and discovering the USA in the 80s. It also reminded me of my experiences with our Soviet exchange studies around the same period.
